Paranormal Activity Unleashed During Our Home Transformation

A house is not a home unless it contains food and fire for the mind as well as the body.”

Benjamin Franklin

Our journey from neglect to renewal in transforming our home has not only refreshed our living space but caused some paranormal activity during our home transformation.

We have been having some renovations done at the house. These are things that were well overdue, and we have neglected the house a little bit over the years. Not in the general cleaning and running of the house. I’ve always endeavored to make it as homely as possible. But in the sense of unfinished building jobs where unreliable tradesmen have promised a lot but left us with a low-quality or unfinished job. Despite our efforts to spruce up the place with decorations, the shoddy workmanship of the past was still glaring at us mockingly. It’s like my old granny used to say, “You can’t polish a turd, but you can roll it in glitter.”

At some point, I reached my limit. I’m not sure exactly when it happened, but I started to despise the house. It felt run-down and incomplete, and the issues were beyond simple do-it-yourself fixes. The place required professional help, but we were apprehensive about hiring anyone after dealing with unreliable workers in the past. Both my husband and I work from home, and the state of the house was taking a toll on my mental well-being. As a writer and content creator, I found it difficult to focus and build my craft in such an environment. I was losing interest in something I’m passionate about and knew that something had to change.

Home is a name, a word, it is a strong one; stronger than any magician ever spoke, or spirit ever answered to, in the strongest conjuration.

Calling on Ancestral Help

Unsure of where to start, I sought ancestral help in my mind and through an offering. I also called upon Brigid for assistance in organising our home. During this process, I felt the need to demonstrate my commitment to this through sacrifice, so I began decluttering and giving away items I no longer needed. As I continued, I felt the space becoming lighter with each item I let go of. I even parted with some beloved possessions to emphasise my dedication to creating a welcoming home. Then, one evening, the magic that was to put my home back on track commenced.

I went to a friend’s house for coffee, and she asked if I was alright. I told her about my house, and she gave me the phone number of a decorator she had used before. She assured me of his expertise. So I nervously called the decorator and explained my situation, and we got along really well. He came to the house to assess it, and we made a plan of action. The decorator initiated a complete overhaul, stripping the house down to its bare bones. He brought in skilled tradesmen to address all the plumbing, plastering, and joinery issues. Every surface and aspect of the house underwent meticulous sanding, filling, caulking, and preparation. Slowly but surely, the house began to take shape again, and the transformation is well underway.

How Our Home Transformation Invoked Paranormal Phenomena

The ongoing home transformation has led to removing old decorations, flooring, and piping, causing a lot of paranormal activity in the house. I keep seeing an old lady in a 1960s-day dress. At first, I thought I was imagining it. However, once, during a conversation with my decorator, I felt someone standing behind me. The old lady was there when I turned around, which startled me. So I had to pretend nothing had happened because my reaction spooked my builder. I quickly composed myself as though nothing unusual had occurred because I didn’t want to scare him further.

I have also noticed her presence when I walk past various rooms. Only to watch her vanish when I gaze towards her. The whole house has a peculiar atmosphere, possibly due to the disturbances and noise from the renovation. The activity has piqued the spirits’ curiosity, causing them to investigate. Or perhaps the deep layers of psychic energy have been stirred up, resulting in a playback of past events in the physical realm.

The Stone Tape Theory

The stone tape theory posits that the residual energy from past events can become imprinted on the physical environment, such as the stone or walls of a building or place. This residual energy can manifest as recordings that sensitive individuals may perceive when in these locations. For example, some people claim to have seen the apparition of a “white lady” at specific times and dates. This is a classic example of a residual haunting. These recordings do not involve actual interaction or communication with a spirit or ghost, as they are simply imprints of past events on the psychic landscape of a location.

Disturbances during home construction can affect psychic energy, particularly when materials like wallpaper or old flooring are removed. This can release trapped energy, leading to the playback of past events or increased paranormal activity during home transformation.

The other evening, after the decorator had left for the day, I was in the kitchen reading through a recipe book when an onion flew out of the vegetable rack and rolled across the floor to where I was sitting. It seemed like something wanted to get my attention, and thought I would need an onion for the meal I was preparing. As it happened, I did need an onion, so I thanked whoever or whatever was trying to help me. This experience makes me think that the current happenings in my house are a combination of disturbed energy causing a temporary residual haunting and that energy also amplifies the attention of any spirits previously connected to the house or the area.

In addition, and perhaps the most peculiar thing of all, I believe that the house is thankful for the renovations and the long-overdue TLC it is receiving. I think even though bricks and mortar make up the house, it still has emotions. It’s the combination of these emotions and the people who live here that truly make it a home. The house has been neglected and unloved for a while, becoming almost stagnant, which eventually crept into other aspects of my life. Now that the stagnant energy is being cleared, it can breathe again, and we can all once again have a mutually beneficial relationship where a happy house contributes to a positive state of mind. This way, it becomes a happy and productive home once more, and even the paranormal activity during our home transformation is an adventure.

After all the construction work is finally finished, I am really looking forward to performing a spiritual cleansing of the house. I plan to start by smudging and clearing every corner with a smudge stick, sound, and purifying and protective properties of kosher salt to rid the space of any lingering energy from the tradesmen who have been here. Once the cleansing is complete, I intend to celebrate by creating a peaceful atmosphere with calming music and indulging in a relaxing salt bath to get rid of the stress that has accumulated over the last few months.

  1. That was such an interesting read, similar occurrences transpired in our home during and after the renovation work, it has taken almost a year for everything to settle down again.
I did not see any direct images, but lots of shadows moving just out of direct range and a slight confused atmosphere lingered, I was semi prepared for it. However I noticed that it impacted my hubby more than anyone, almost like he was completely disoriented about everything and he’s not usually that way.
He seemed like a bit of a sponge for all the strange energies that the renovation work was kicking up.

  2. Hello Samie, Yes, it can make you feel ungrounded and a little accident-prone as well. Tripping over nothing or dropping and breaking things, nothing going right for a while. I can definitely relate to that.

  3. Reading your blog is bringing tears to my eyes… I’ve only started to read, and I had to stop and thank you. This post speaks to, and validated, the feelings/ issues I’ve been grappling with… but could not precisely define… thank you.

  4. What you describe Sara is similar to what I have been experiencing in the house I am renting here in Canada. There is definitely a presence in this house, there may be a portal and has a ghost or a demon. It speaks out loud and can copy other people’s voices. It moves things around, takes things I own and tosses things over to me like your onion experience. I do sage the house and chanted a mantra last night that was posted by Christian Tange. Keeping my Fingers crossed.
